Thursday, October 9 - La Cuesta Library
Would like to see how a library in the small community of Villa de Zaachila is being transformed into an oasis of reading, due in part to its one-year membership in the Libros Para Pueblos network? Today 136 young children have access to 200 donated books, and the library manager has received training in educational activities to promote the joy of reading. Children will sit one-on-one with us to read from their favorite books, and we ’ll observe classroom activities and talk with local educators about the challenges and advances in starting these children on the path to becoming lifelong readers. Join us to see this remarkable growth.

Tuesday, October 21 – San Sebastian Tutla
Join with us to experience first-hand what takes place in a vibrant school library that enjoys more than 1,000 children’s books, donated by Libros Para Pueblos. We will visit the Símbolos Patrios Elementary School to read one-on-one with some of the 228 young students who will choose their favorite books to share with you. We ’ll also talk with educators about the goals and challenges facing the community and observe classroom activities shaped by skills gained through Libros’ training workshops. Together with LPP since 2012, this library has benefited thousands of young readers and is changing the lives of families in the community. This visit is an experience you don’t want to miss!
